Jakarta — PT Solder Tin Andalan Indonesia (STANIA) and Singapore-based Asahi Chemical & Solder Industries Pte. Ltd. have signed a strategic partnership to strengthen Indonesia’s tin downstreaming industry.

The companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the STANIA factory in Batam on Friday, September 11, 2026.

Through the partnership, STANIA and Asahi Solder will explore higher-value solder products, technology development, quality improvements and wider market access.

STANIA operates under PT Arsari Tambang. The company forms part of Arsari Group’s integrated tin downstreaming ecosystem, which connects mining activities with downstream manufacturing.

STANIA opened its Batam factory in July 2025. The facility has an initial production capacity of 2,000 tonnes per year and currently produces solder bar.

PT Arsari Tambang CEO and Arsari Group Vice President Director Aryo P. S. Djojohadikusumo said the partnership supports the group’s wider industrial strategy.

“STANIA is part of Arsari Tambang, which is a sub-holding of Arsari Group. Therefore, today’s partnership is not only about developing solder products but is part of a broader effort to build a value chain connecting natural resources, value-added materials, manufacturing, and the technologies of the future,” Aryo said.

Meanwhile, Arsari Group continues to develop its technology and artificial intelligence ecosystem through RAIA Grid. The initiative covers connectivity, fiber networks, data centers, cloud services, high-performance computing and AI.

The group also plans to develop GPU assembly capabilities in Indonesia. According to Aryo, these projects require strong supporting industries and domestic supply chains.

“We want to see Indonesian tin continue to move up the value chain, from a commodity into value-added materials, then connected to electronic manufacturing and ultimately supporting the technology and AI ecosystem being developed in Indonesia,” he said.

Asahi Solder Managing Director Vincent Kho also welcomed the partnership. He said the collaboration can combine STANIA’s local manufacturing capabilities with Asahi Solder’s experience in solder products and electronic interconnect materials.

“Indonesia has significant potential to develop its downstream tin industry,” Vincent said. “We believe that combining STANIA’s local manufacturing capabilities with Asahi Solder’s experience in solder products and electronic interconnect materials can create new opportunities for higher-value products and strengthen Indonesia’s participation in the global electronics supply chain.”

Furthermore, the two companies will explore new products, technology, quality systems and market opportunities. One potential product is solder paste, which supports electronics manufacturing.

STANIA also plans to maintain sustainability as part of its downstreaming strategy. The Batam facility focuses on energy efficiency, emissions reduction and environmental considerations.

For Arsari Group, downstreaming must therefore go beyond processing raw materials. The company aims to connect Indonesian tin with manufacturing and future technology industries.

The partnership also supports Indonesia’s broader push to increase downstream processing, attract investment and strengthen domestic industrial capabilities.
